2 themes
human ingenuity :
organ donation
process- people allow their organ to be removed n transplanted to another person, legally, either by consent while living or dead
malaysia : filling form, eligible for 18 and above, via MYSejahtera
: less than 18, written permission from parents
: exception - HIV-AIDS, hepatitis B and C, syphilis
shortage of donors :
- believe that their religion does not allow
- wrong perception in the activity (does not want to involved)
- believe mutilation to the deceased's body
- allowing the harvesting of organs from a brain dead donor will delay the burial rituals
uk : opt-out system - shortage of donors, to improve many life
- considered as organ donors : over 18, not opted out, not in excluded group
- excluded group - under 18,visitors to England
- effect out of 80% supporters, only 38% donated
malaysia : 10,000 waiting
uk : 6000 waiting list
people still lack of awareness
shortage of donors :
- lack of donors from black n asian people (tend to develop conditions likes hepatitis, diabetes), would be better if same background
- family hesistate
-
-
possible question :
- is it better for a country to apply opt out or opt in system
- why do you think people refuse to donate
- would you encourage your children to donate their organ
possible question
- what was the past event that have changed your life
- what was the biggest challenge you faced when going through the rites of passage
- have you experienced any traumatized event that haunted you ?
- do you think someone's characteristic is shaped by the past experience?
- do you think children should leave their parents when they grew older?
- do you think people who always face failure, will always fail?
