Story
Exposition
-
-
Dunnbees and his wife are taking care of Cord while his parents are away for the summer. This is because he needs to finish his work
Inciting Incident
Encyclopaedia from National Library is stolen, His wife asks him why someone would want to steal an encyclopedia. Dunnbees is hired because no other detective is willing to take up the job. He is very excited and runs to Cord to get him.
Cord is actually not doing his homework in his room, but instead is on his gameboy and is distracted. Dunnbees tells him that he should be doing his homework. Cord is angry because what else can he do? He complains that life in secondary school is difficult and wishes he could have some free time for once that may not be

Rising Action
-
Detective and Cord discuss what they are investigating, the case in the library. Cord gives a possible reason, leading Cupid to believe Cord can help out
They enter the library. The librarian seems to believe that they are here to get a book, and says that the library is closed. After Dunnbees shows his badge, she is aware of what they are looking for.
-
Conflict
They each try to grab the gameboy from each other, however, the gameboy slips from their hands into the library basement. Cord is upset, and he pushes his uncle aside as he walks into the basement to get it.
Detective Cupid takes away the gameboy from Cord. Cord was fighting the final boss on his gameboy, which is why Cord is angry, meanwhile Dunnbees is angry because Cord wanted to come to help Dunnbeees but isn't helping.
Plot Point 2
Diana tells Dunnbees there is a monster in the basement, and it has been taking employees alive. He laughs it off
Diana tells that she has tried to call the authorities, but they are not willing to help because they think that Diana is crazy. More and more of the staff have disappeared over time due to this. And she urges Detective CUpid not to go in on his own
Yet, he doesn't because not only does he see it at important, because he has experience in karate
Climax
While Cord finds his Gameboy, he comes face to face to face with the final boss from his video game, who is lurking in the basement with the encyclopaedia and the employees.
Dunnbees tries to karate kick the monster, but fails to do so. Dunnbees remembers a strategy from his game which involves throwing projectiles at the boss to defeat it. He does that, but with some broken books. This kills the monster.
Resolution
-
Dunnbees and Cord both forgive each other for their wrongdoings. Cord realises the real life activity of fighting the monster is more fun than something on a gameboy screen.
Characters

-
Assistant: Cord, defiant teen, nephew of Dunnbees, wears a yellow and purple colour scheme. Young, defiant, fights for what he wants. Enjoys coomfort

Used to be Dunnbees' detective partner when he was younger but is now caught up with schoolwork which makes his life more difficult.
Is actually intellectual because of this. He actually does have interest for the case, but is distracted.
Victim: Librarian Diana, pink colour scheme, typically very nice, but seems suspicious sometimes.
Secretly knows why the encyclopaedia is missing, because there is a giant monster.
Final Boss, deepened colour of Cord, yellowish-green, purple swirling eyes, appears in Cord's game, but also appears in real life as a representation of Cord's toxicity
Goal: To capture librarians, keep the encyclopaedia hidden.
This references the idea that Cord being on his device is dragging him away from his priorities like his homework.
Dunnbees' wife, is never seen physically in story, but she plays a role in the Inciting Incident where
Setting/Background

-
-
Train - Neutral – but on the blue side, because it goes out of the comfort zone.
-
Panels (Advanced ideas)
Black shading (In the face) when the gameboy slips out of their hands to convey the shock of that moment
-
Remove the borders in the panels when Cord comes face to face with the monster as this is the climax
Make the chair and TV feel out of place in the first scenery to make it feel like something's out of place.

Notes about findings

Mr. Pendlebury says that having a colour that looks out of place can help with the idea of something not being right.
