Mary Rowlandson: Mary Rowlandson was extremely important into feeding into the proper ideals of the Puritans as throughout her whole journey her main concern wasn't her safety or the hardships she was experiencing, but rather that she must not let God down if she questions him or that she must not become shunned by the Puritans. As a Woman and a puritan she felt she had no other role than to be a great servant, so she painted the Native Americans as savages and ungodly people and did everything she could to not become one of them. This story showcases the extreme sovereignty of being a Puritan as they would rather face hell itself than question God as he was their only hope and purpose. "It is not my tongue, or pen can express the sorrows of my heart, and the bitterness of my spirit that I had at this departure: but God was with me in a wonderful manner, carrying me along, and bearing up my spirit, that it did not quite fail.
