When it goes wrong.
Cramp: involuntarily painful contraction of one or more muscles. Usually in small area & doesn't last long.
Spasm: involuntarily painful contraction, often in response to pain. usually sustained & in a large area such as the back

Atrophy: wasting away of muscle, often after injury, muscle gets smaller

Fibromyalgia: painful muscles in one symptom. Also, depression, fatigue, insomnia, lack of focus, similar to Lym Disease & M.E.

Muscle Terms
Muscle Tone: the number of fibers which are contracted even when muscles are relaxed. More fibers contracted, more tone
Muscle Tension: more muscles are contracted than is necessary, ex. neck & shoulder tension, feeling stressed out
Muscle Fatigue: lack of blood supply causes muscles to temporarily stop working, caused by working without rest, ex. working out.
