The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-time
Love & Responsibility
Judy Boone
Committed adultery when she couldn't bear being in the same house with Edward due to the fact that she felt that Edward and Christopher are better off without her.
Having adequate and heart-to-heart discussions with your partner can be considered
Judy ignored her direct responsibility as a mother for Christopher possibly due to Christopher being a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder(ASD).
Having a child suffering from illness should be regarded as a gift, not a chore or punishment
Even though she had left the house, Judy sometimes wrote letter for Christopher, stating how she still loves him even when they are far apart.
It is great to see her still care for Christopher with the letters that she wrote for him. But she could have try to see him from time to time so that the mother-son bond that they should have can be established in the first place.
Edward Boone
He lied about Christopher's mother's death to him because he didn't want Christopher to know about the truth yet as he is still young.
To divert Christopher's attention towards his mother by lying about her whereabouts can be done by other means, in a way that is not as tragic as saying that his mother is dead.
Honesty & Trust
Edward Boone
He purposefully lied to Christopher about not knowing what happened to Mrs. Shears' dog, Wellington
He should be more truthful from time-to-time, as he may lost the trust of his son.
He also lied about Christopher's mother, Judy being dead as a result of a heart attack whereas the truth is that she is still alive, just living in London.
His action may be justified due to the fact that Christopher is still too young to know about the relationship problems that both of his parents had.
Mrs. Alexander
She revealed to Christopher the truth behind the separation of his parents, that resulted in Judy running away from home with Mr. Shears and Edward ended up with Mrs. Shears.
Chirstopher probably could have known the fact why his mother ran away from, if given more time.
Christopher would have known about the truth regarding his mother in the near future, but nonetheless the act of Mrs. Alexander telling Christopher about his mother's adultery with Mr. Shears.
He is still too young to be exposed to such complicated relationship problems that both of his parents had.
