Human Body - Coggle Diagram
Human Body
Levels of Organization
Organ: A group of 2 or more tissues working together
Organ Systems: A group of organs working together
Tissue: A group of cells working together
Organism: All of the systems working together for homeostasis
Cell: Basic Unit of Life
Nervous system
Parts
Brain, Spinal Cord, Nerves
Other Systems
It works with all systems in the body. If nervous system fails, all other systems will be bad.
Function
Sends and receive information to/from the body
Endocrine System
Functions
Produces chemicals that control the body's activities daily.
Parts
Pancreas, Thyroid, Adrenal Glands, Testes and ovaries
Other Systems
Circulatory: Sends hormones to control the body's functions
Respiratory: Adrenaline hormones stimulate respiration
Skeletal System
Function
support, movement, storage, make blood, homeostasis
Other Systems
Circulatory: Bone marrow makes red blood cells
Muscular: helps with movement
Parts
Spongy: Soft inner part
Ligaments: attach bones together
Bones
Compact: Hand, outer part
Cartilage: Firm flexible tissues ex. nose, ears
Muscular System
Parts
Tendon: Connect Bones to muscle
Skeletal Muscle: Voluntary connect to the bone
Cardiac: Muscle, involuntary in the heart
Function: Movement, heat production
Other systems: skeletal, nervous, circulatory, digestive
Excretory System/Urinary System
Parts
Ureters,Urethra,Urine,Kidneys,Bladder
Function
Gets rid of waste from urine and filters unneeded nutrients and water.
Other systems
Circulatory System:Sends blood to kidneys so they filter waste from the blood stream.
All organ systems: The other systems would fail without a supply of clean blood.
Circulatory System
Parts
Heart, Blood vessels, blood
Other Systems
Respiratory System: Gas exchange
Cardiovascular system( Circulatory): Pumps blood from heart to lungs
Functions
Delivers oxygen needed by cells to release energy from sugar molecules. It carries back carbon dioxide to the lungs where it is eliminated form the air that is being exhaled.
Respiratory System:
Other Systems
Muscular, Skeletal, Circulatory
Functions
To breathe out carbon dioxide and other waste products.
To make sounds
To breathe in
Parts
Nasal cavity, Pharynx,Epiglottis, Larynx,Trachea, Bronchi, Bronchioles,Alveoli, Lungs, Diaphragm
Reproductive System
Other Systems
Nervous, endocrine,
Function
To allow humans to reproduce. Allow humans to be born.
Parts:
Females
Ovaries
Create eggs
Makes a baby
Males
Testes
Produces sperm
Goes into women's egg which allows her to make a baby.
Immune System
Other Systems
Circulatory: Works with immune system by transportation needs.
Functions
Body's way of getting rid of unwelcome invaders.
The body's defense system fights against diseases.
Parts
White Blood cells, antibodies, complement system, lymphatic system, spleen, bone marrow, thymus
Digestive System
Parts
Mouth,Liver,Gallbladder,Small intestine,Esophagus,Stomach,Pancreas,Large Intestine
Other Systems
Circulatory System: When nutrients are broken down into smaller pieces, they are carried throughout the body
Muscular System: The broken down nutrients are provided to the muscles for energy.
Function
Breaks down food for nutrients and excretes waste from food.
