Motion System
Nerve Impulse Mechanism
Sequence of impulse travel in the nervous system i.e. polarization stage - depolarization stage -
repolarization stage. Impulse is a stimulus in the form of electricity and propagates on
nerve fiber Impulse transmission occurs by conduction involving ion pumps Na+ and K

Potential Action
Depolarization
The membrane becomes permeable to Na+ ions, so the Na+ ions diffuse into the axon which makes the potential more positive
Repolarization
Then the Na+ channels close and the K+ channels open, so K+ ion diffuse outwards causing the potential to return to negative
Hyperpolarization
More negative state than the resting potential, before returning to the resting potential state
