ACID RAIN - Coggle Diagram
ACID RAIN
Cause
-
-
Vehicle exhaustion
Related to fossil fuel plants, e.g. the use of coal
-
-
Fossil Fuel Plants
They generate harmful greenhouse gasses when burnt, for example carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide
Effect
-
Harms plants e.g. Trees
Dissolves organic material essential to plants, e.g. calcium
acidic fog and/or clouds may strip the nutrients from the tree's leaves, leaving the trees with brown or dying foliage -> less able to do photosynthesis, which leaves them weak
Damages certain buildings and monuments made up of stone and/or metal, e.g. iron (acid rain causes irons to rust)
Erodes water pipe, causing heavy metal like iron and copper to leak into the drinking water
causes immense damage to the human body, e.g. certain heavy metals causes cancer in the human body
Prevention
-
-
If possible, drive an electric vehicle, if not possible, public transportation is also a great option
