Levels of Organization
Organs: They are made up of one or more similar tissues
Organ system: they are made up of similar organs
Tissues: They are made up of one or more similar cells
Organisms: They are made up of organ systems
Cells: basic unit of life.
Muscular system
Function: This system is responsible for the movement.
Works with: skeletal system
Parts: bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and cartilage.
Respiratory system
Function: The lungs and respiratory system allow us to breathe. They bring oxygen into our bodies and send carbon dioxide out.
Works with: nervous system, circulatory system, and immune system.
Parts: Nasal cavity, pharynx, epiglottis, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchitis, avioli, lungs, diaphragm.
Circulatory system
Function: The circulatory system carries oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells, and removes waste products.
Parts: Heart, blood vessels, and blood.
Works with: digestive and respiratory
Skeletal system
Function: Support, movement, protection, making blood cells, and calcium storage
Works with: muscular system
Parts: bones, ligaments, tendons, and joints
Nervous system
Function: Helps receive information about what is happening both inside and outside of our bodies
Works with: endocrine system
Parts: The brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves.
Endocrine system
Function: This system helps regulate our activities.
Works with: nervous system.
Parts: It has glands like pancreas, thyroid, Adrenal glands, testes and ovaries
Immune system
Function: This system protects us against diseases.
Works with: circulatory system and respiratory system.
Parts: thymus, bone marrow, spleen, lymphatic system, antibodies, and white blood cells.
Digestive system
Function: To break down food into its nutrients and to absorb those nutrients into the blood stream.
Works with: circulatory system and muscular system
Parts: Mouth, esophagus, liver, stomach. gall bladder, pancreas, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus.
Urinary system
Function: Filter waste and unneeded nutrients and water out of the blood.
Works with: circulatory system
Parts: Ureters, kidneys, urethra, urine, and bladder
Reproductive system
Function: To transport and produce eggs and sperm cells
Works with: Circulatory system
Parts: Ovaries, uterus, vagina, penis, testes, and prostate.
