we can collect and represent data by using statistics, which is categorised by two types, univariate and bivariate
univariate
data with one variable

bivariate
data with two variables
example:

bivariate data are displayed as:

scatter graphs
line of best fit
multivariate
there are two classifications of data: qualitative and quantitative
qualitative data
descriptive data
discrete
countable data, for example:
number of students in a class
number of goals in a football match
continuous
measurable data, for example:
height
weight
temperature
quantitative data
numeric data
categorical (nominal)
categorical data, for example:
male/female
hair colour
religion
ordinal
data that is in order, for example:
1st, 2nd, 3rd...
low, medium, high
XS, S, M, L, XL
there are two types of data collection: primary and secondary
primary data
data obtained independently
secondary data
data obtained from a source (e.g. websites, journals, articles)
data are facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
