Never Let Me Go
by Kazuo Ishiguro
Identity
Kathy
Tried to look for her possible in an adult magazine, just because of the fact that she was somehow addicted to sex
Each individual is born unique, but there may be some traits that are similar among siblings or relatives
She was still holding on to her memories at Hailsham and the fact that Hailsham had shaped her for who she is now
Each experience that we go through life will ultimately shape how we think and act, especially in schools as we are entering the young adult age and started to discover more about life
Ruth
She was obsessed with finding her own 'possible' so that she can maybe find out about her future since she had possibly been cloned from the 'possible'
It is almost the same as finding the purpose to life, in which we can say that she might be on the right track to find out what her future might look like
She even started to fantasise about working in an office, just like how her 'possible' is even though she never met her.
Dreaming about the future is something that everyone should think of, even when the chance of obtaining the future is almost impossible
Love & Friendship
Tommy
He was in a relationship with Ruth, in which we can see that Ruth may or may not intended to be in love with Tommy.
Insincere relationships do not last long, especially due to the fact that the person is doing it for the sake of coming out on top of a competition in which wo will be in a relationship faster than the other.
Tommy would have probably be in a relationship with Kathy if Ruth had not be with Tommy in the first place.
Infighting between Ruth and Kathy might have happened because of the fact that they were both are going after Tommy, even if one of them is not sincere in the relationship
Kathy
At the end of the story, Kathy was left all alone after both Ruth and possibly Tommy had completed their donations
This is a normal part of life, in which we can expect that to eveyone that will be left all alone, after their friends and relatives had passed away
She was also rejected from taking care of Tommy, due to the fact that Tommy was in a weak state and that would probably mean that Tommy did not want Kathy to see him like that.
Tommy probably had some feelings for Kathy, but Ruth's jealousy is showing through the fact that she got to be a couple with Tommy first than Kathy
