question: describe oscillation of a pendulum as it moves through 4 points : :
pendelum has max GPE at 2 extreme point P & S, where it is momentarily at rest.
as pendelum swings downwards from P to Q, GPE converted to KE as speed increases.
at Q, pendelum posses both GPE & KE.
at R, KE of pendelum is max.
as it swings upwards from R to S, KE converted to GPE.
-
mention: relationship between KE and speed, GPE and height (main concept)
question: in an ideal situation, the pendulum will oscillate forever. State how the Principle of Conservation of Energy can be used to explain this
in an ideal situation: GPE of pendelum converts into only KE as pendelum swings down and vice versa as it swings up
since TE is conserved, no energy is lost and it swings forever
-
state how energy is conserved/not lost when moving a box up a ramp (assuming no energy is lost to surroundings)

a efficiency of a power station that uses water to spin a turbine is 55%, how do you increase/improve it?

Principle Of Conservation of Energy: Energy cannot be created nor destroyed but can only be converted from one form to another and total energy remains constant throughout.
Energy is also GPE, KE etc. so: formula P = E/t can also be GPE/t (mgh/t)
