THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
The oesophagus
At the top the oesophagus , there is a flap of cartilage called the epiglottis. It covers the trachea and stops food from going into our respiratory system.
The stomach
When the bolus of food reaches it combines with gastric juices that break down the food and kill dangerous bacteria

Circulation
PULMONARY CIRCULATION: the heart pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs , where the blood absorbs oxygen. Then the oxygenated blood flows back to the heart.
SYSTEMIC CIRCULATION: the heart pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. When this blood returns to the heart , it is deoxygenated.
THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM
THE URINARY SYSTEM
the urinary system helps to keep our blood clean and healthy . It removes waste products from the blood and then eliminates them from the body.

SWEAT GLANDS
Our body can also eliminate waste through sweat glands in our skin . When we get hot, our sweat glands excrete sweat to cool us down. Sweat is a mixture of water , salt and other minerals
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Respiration
When we breathe in, the air enters our nose and mouth. From there, it passes into a long to called the trachea
Breathing in and out
Under the lungs , there is a large , flat muscle called the diaphragm. This muscle contracts when we breathe in and relaxes when we breathe out.
