Canine Distemper Virus in aerosol droplets
Contacts epithelium of the upper respiratory tract
Virus enters the tonsils, bronchial lymh nodes, thymus, spleen, marrow, retropharyngeal lymph nodes
Initial rise in body temperature and leukopenia (primarily a lymphopenia caused by viral damage to lymphoid cells, affecting both T and B cells)
Virus multiplies in the lymphoid follicles in the spleen, gut-associated lymphatic tissue of the intestinal lamina propria of the stomach and small intestines, mesenteric lymph nodes and Kuppfer's cells in the liver
Macrophages containing CDV enter lymphatics travelling back to the heart
Enter the blood
Viremia (mononuclear cells in blood)
Enters via the vessels of the choroid plexus
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and ventricular system

Adequate host immunity (Good antibody response)
Virus may enter CNS

Enters via the cerebral circulation (deposited in the perivascular spaces of fine blood vessels)
Cytokine expression is upregulated
Alteration in the viral H protein gene sequence

Tenesmus
Intussusceptions
Lost Maternal Derived Antibodies (MDA)
Inadequate concentrations of MDA
