- - - - If any of the judges are found guilty of misusing his power or acting against the provisions of the constitution ,they can be impeached by the same Procedure as the impachment of the president
      - They shall be removed by an order of the president, passed after an address, by each house of the parliament supported by a majority of the total membership of that house and by a majority of two thirds of the house present adn voting must be presented to the President in the same session.
- - - - The cases that can be brought before the supreme court only though an appeal are called Appellate jurisdiction of the court. The supreme court has powers to grant special leave to appeal against the judgement delivered by any other court in the country
        
        Civil suits
        
        Any civil suit where a High court itself certifies that a substantial point of law is involved and interpretation of the constitution is required.
        
        Constitutional matters
        
        All matters where a certificate is issued by the high court that it involves an important point of law and needs interpretation of the constitution, can be brought before the constitution.
        
        Criminal cases
        
        When a high court withdraws a criminal case from a lower court, convicts a person and awards capital punishment
        
        Where a High court itself certifies that a substantial point of law is involved and interpretation of the constitution is required.
        
        A criminal suit, where a person is aqiutted by the session court but awarded capital punishment by a high court
    - - Original Jurisdiction of a court implies those cases which could be directly brought before it. Regarding these, the Supreme courts has exclusive jurisdiction and these cases cannot be decided by the other courts
        
        Disputes between two or more states
        
        Interpretation of constitution
        
        All cases where interpretation of constitution is required can be directly filed in the supreme court. It has the power to review and decide whether a law is ultra vires
        
        Fundamental rights
        
        Cases relating to infringement or denial of the fundamental rights can originally be brought before the supreme court
        
        Centre-State disputes
  - - - Though the power and functions of the Union and states have been clearly demarcated, there is a likelihood of them going beyond their jurisdiction
      - The legislature may not possess the wisdom, insight, experience and impartiality to examine the subtle nuances of certain laws
      - Being a written constitution, an Article or its parts may be clearly worded, resulting in ambiguity and misinterpretation.
- - - - It means 'we command'. It is like a command from a superior court to a subordinate court in case they refuse to excercise their jurisdiction and fail to perfom their duty.
    - - This writ is issued by the superior court to the quasi-judicial authorities in order to quash its order or decision. It is issued only after the order has been passed
    - - This writ is an order from a superior court(Supreme or High court) to an inferior court to stop proceedings in a case which it, in the opinion of the higher court, might be contemplating to do in excess of its jurisdiction.
    - - It means ' to have a body'. By this writ, the court can get the body of any person released if it has been unlawfully captured by any person or a group of persons or by the state. This writ is thus a great safeguard for the personal freedom of a citizen.
    - - This writ is issued by a court to a public servant to enquire of the legality of his olding a public office and to oust him if his claim is not well founded. It prevents an unlawful claimant from holding a superior public office.
