observer gains easy access, establishes rapport immediately with the informants and collects data directly
related to research interests.
VARIOUS ACCESSES
-
-
ORGANIZTION ACCESS
Participating observers usually gain access to organizations
requesting the permission of those responsible.
-
DATA COLLECTION
The notes collected at that stage will help the observer later
to understand how it is seen by the people of the organization
UNIT 2.
ESTBLISH RAPPORT
Establishing rapport with informants is the goal of every field researcher. when you begin to achieve rapport with those people to whom you are studying, you experience feelings of accomplishment and stimulation.
KEY INFORMANTS
Field researchers try to
cultivate close relationships with one or two respected and knowledgeable people in the
early stages of the investigation.
ENTRANCE TO THE FIELD
During the initial period, data collection is secondary to getting to know
the setting and the people.
FIELD TECNIQUES
SOME TECTINS ARE: ACTING AS NAIVE, BEING AT THE RIGHT TIME AND IN THE RIGHT PLACE THE INFORMANTS SHOULD NOT KNOW WHAT WE ARE STUDYING.
UNIT 3. DEEP INTERVIEWS
APROACH TO INFORMANTS
It is usually not difficult to get initial interviews at the
to the extent that the individuals in question can introduce us into their agendas.
