Definition And Etiology
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by the Leptospira interrogans bacteria which is spread through the urine or blood of animals infected with this bacteria.

Patofisiology
The pathophysiological process of leptospirosis or Weil's disease begins with the entry of Leptospira bacteria through broken skin, mucous membranes, or the conjunctiva. Humans are generally infected through exposure to animal body fluids, especially urine.

Risk Factor
Risk factors for exposure to leptospires, such as certain work history, contact with animals, tourism activities, as well as environmental factors and natural disasters related to water that has been infected with leptospira bacteria

Education & Prognosis
Education
education that can be given is advice to wash hands and feet with soap when exposed to dirty water or soil, store food and drink safely, use footwear, clean the surrounding environment, and not litter to prevent flooding.
Prognosis
The prognosis tends to be good, although some patients may require hospitalisation and may also have autoinflammatory complications in the mid- to long-term. In patients with a severe case of the disease (Weil's disease) or complications, mortality is around 40%.
