In this case, it is obvious that Willy compromised his relationships with his brother and the natural environment in an effort to offer his boys everything. Willy, however, only ever offers his boys money and hopes of effortless success evident by Willy's addition of him telling Biff "anything but decent things." (page 27), in contrast to Charley, who provides his son affection and "an arm on BERNARD's shoulder" (page 73). As a result, Willy is left perplexed by his kids' failings, as seen by his particular attention to Biff and his statement, "I got nothing to give him." (page 72).
