Job Demands and Resources (JD-R) Theory

Developed and published in 2001 by Demerouti, Bakker, Nachreiner, and Schaufeli

Two assumptions of JDR:

  1. Work environment or job characteristics has two (2)categories (job demands and job resources)

  1. Autonomy
  2. Competence
  3. Relatedness
    Two Sub Theory:

Effort Reward Imbalance (ERI) Model

The founder of ERI model is Johannes Siegrist in 1986

Imbalance will lead to unpleasant or negative feeling

ERI model is establish in explaining work-related stress and health differences

Crossover / Spill Over Model is to examine to impact of the work domain on the home domain, and consequently, the transference of work-related emotions from the employee to others at home (particularly the partner)

It help in influence people in positive or negative way

Spill over is a work to family domain, while Crossover is from individual to individual domain. Spillover example is leisure, while crossover is work from home, family work conflict, work family enrichment, and family work enrichment.

Build and Broaden Theory is a love and variety of other positive emotions

The theory was developed by Barbara Fredrickson in 1998

Conservation of Resources Theory is a stress theory that describes the motivation that drives humans to both maintain their current resources and to pursue new resources.

Founder of conservation of resources is Dr. Stevan E. Hobfoll in 1989
