Body 5 Happy - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Happy embodies the worst traits of Willy's character in his emphasis on success and his willingness to fool himself.
      - He represents the false promise of the prosperous American Dream.
- - - - He works as an assistant to an assistant manager at a department store.
    - - He is always ready to do whatever is convenient, including lying to his family, accepting bribes at work, and having relationships with his coworkers' women.
      - He is one-dimensional and static throughout the play.
      - His empty vow to avenge Willy’s death by finally “beat[ing] this racket” provides evidence of his critical condition: for Happy, who has lived in the shadow of the inflated expectations of his brother, there is no escape from the Dream’s indoctrinated lies.
    - - "tall, powerfully made ... never allowed himself to turn his face toward defeat" (page 8)
        
        Just like his brother he is powerfull man but in the present time he is in a better state.
        
        However, by the mention from the play just like his brother he "is lost".
        
        This sense of loss caused by his focus on succses just like Willy.
        
        This perfectly connects with his admeration twoards to his father, which could be seen by hid diolouge with Biff.
        
        In the dioluge he mentions "he's got the finest ... in the business." (page 9), which he overexacurets like little child.
        
        All of this introduction part creates the criticism of the American Dream, which becomes more evident in the later parts of the play.
  - - - His name is self evident, which suggests high positivity. However, this personality chrait is like his father, where leads problemetic situations.
        
        This little compliment twoards Biff shows more of an inocent way to show his encouriging personality, which is also hightened by usage of "!".

        "never so happy as when he's looking forward to something!" (page 82)
        
        Happy is informed by Biff that he wishes to confess to their father in order to be honest with him. Happy advises them to deceive him and say that Oliver consented to speak with Biff and is considering their offer rather than telling the truth. Happy encourages his brother to lie in order to please their father since he understands that Willy's happiness and sense of self-worth depend on his dreams. As a result, he repeats the cycle that his father began. The issue with the cycle is that Happy keeps emphasizing success, which was made possible by his father's American Dream. Consequently, Happy's deceitful behavior in this case illustrates how the false promises of the American Dream lead to people misleading themselves with lies.
    - - "Manufacturers offer me a hundred-dollar bill now and
        then to throw an order their way." (page 14)
        
        Happy dislikes working in sales. He also has a very lonely existence and is always waiting for someone in a position of authority to leave or pass away. Happy does, however, find the idea of money to be appealing. As a result, Happy shares his father's emotions. Consequently, Happy's frequent acceptance of bribes serves as yet another illustration of how the American Dream has been twisted.
