constitutional monarchy: system of government in which a monarch shares power with a constitutionally organized government. The monarch may be the de facto head of state or a purely ceremonial leader. Britain became a constitutional monarchy under the Whigs.
parliamentary system: democratic form of government in which the party with the greatest representation in the parliament (legislature) forms the government, its leader becoming prime minister or chancellor. Prime ministers may be removed from power whenever they lose the confidence of a majority of the ruling party or of the parliament.
