Semester 1 Review Project
Unit 1
Lesson 1
The Four Ethical Theories are Deontology, Utilitarianism, Rights, and Virtue.
Through the lens of Christ the Church is able to understand morality.
The Four Ethical Principles are Beneficence, Least Harm, Autonomy, and Justice.
Lesson 3
Jesus is the new Adam and Mary is the new Eve.
The reason God sent the Prophets to his people was to call them back to His message.
There will be conflict forever between the devil and humanity, but God will always help us win.
Lesson 2
Mortal Sin- for a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: Mortal sin is sin whose object is matter and which is also committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent,
Venial Sin- weakens charity; it manifests a disordered affection for created goods; it impedes the soul’s progress in the exercise of the virtues and the practice of the moral good.
Sin is an offense against reason, truth and your right conscience.
Lesson 4
You can not separate the Communal action of the Church from the Individual actions of the Church.
We can help Catholic Social Teaching through our service, justice, subsidiaries, solidarity.
When you are a member of the Church you are a member of the Mystical Body.
Unit 2
Lesson 5
In the Synoptic Gospels Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan River and the Holy Spirit comes down upon Jesus with an affirming message.
In Matthew the message from the Holy Spirit seems to be for everyone, but in Mark it seems to only be for Jesus.
One of the Luminous Mysteries is the Baptism of Jesus.
Lesson 6
Mary at the Wedding of Cana never asks Jesus to help them out.
Jesus will do anything to please Mary.
Mary has full confidence in Jesus, his ability and willingness.
Lesson 4
The story begins with Zachariah going to the sanctuary to burn incense to praise the Lord when an angle appears to him because he is going to have a child.
The story ends with Jesus’ circumcision eight days after he was born.

It seems to us that Jesus comes from the geneology of Israel’s greatest heroes.
Joseph is the end of the geneology.
Jesus is the one who puts the house in order.
Lesson 7
The Kingdom of God is pretty much just returning to the Goarden of Eden.
Moses because of his anger towards the chosen people was not permitted to enter into the Promise Land.
The Kingdom of God is not a Christian utopia.

Human love may have its limits, but God’s love is infinite, their is nothing you can do to make him not love you.
God will always want us to share in his divine life.
On of the many reasons for the Incarnation was to reconcile us with God through the forgiveness of sins.

Jesus try’s to draw an analogy with the Eucharist and the manna
The Eucharist’s nourishment goes beyond the physical.
The Eucharist is so much easier to understand if you look at it from a literal standpoint.
Lesson 1
While Matthew and Luke focus of the human condition of the Incarnation, John focuses of the divine aspect of the Incarnation.
Since Mary fulfills the role of the “New Eve,” Christ is able to fulfill the role of the “New Adam.”
Through the reality of the Immaculate Conception, Mary is able to bear Christ as the Theotokos.
Lesson 9
When we mention the ends of the world we either mean the end of the universe, the planet earth or the human race.
Jesus when mentioning his 2nd Coming does not mention destruction.
Many people associate the 2nd Coming of Christ with the end of the World.
Unit 3 :
Lesson 4
Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels uses the same line to defend the Temple, “My house is a house of prayer , yet you have mad it a den of thieves.
Jesus is angry because of the buying selling and cheating going on in the Temple.
The priest are using their position to make a profit.
Lesson 3
One thing that is fitting for a king is a triumphant entry in to his capital.
Jesus was not an extravagant person when he entered on the donkey.
Jesus did not use any elements a king of that time period would use.
Lesson 5
Saints is heaven pray for the Church on earth.
We are known as the Curch Militant.
It is a Catholic custom to name your kid after a saint.
Lesson 6
At the Agony in the Garden the Apostles try to resist and stop Jesus from being taken away from them, but in the end Jesus says to stop and he is taken away.
During the Agony in the Garden Jesus could not stop thinking about what was going to happen to Him.
Jesus is always preparing the Apostles for his inevitable exit from the world.
Lesson 2
The Story of Job is about a man in the Old Testament who was clearly innocent and was mad to suffer for reasons beyond his understanding.
Jesus calls two groups of people out, the Scribes and the Pharisees.
The Zealots were Jews who would do anything to overthrow the Roman occupation.
Lesson 7
Under the law of Moses blasphemy is a capital crime, which Jesus is accused of committing.
When Jesus was crucified people saw it as a condemned man not just by the Romans and his own religious leaders, but also by God.
Jesus had to undergo two different trials, one before the Sanhedrin and one before Puntius Pilate.
Lesson 1
An Agnostic is someone knows who God is and what he does, but does not believe in Him, they say that there is insufficient evidence.
A Catholic who misunderstands the teaching they are not a real Catholic.
An Athiest is someone who does not follow God for certain reasons.
Lesson 8
In John’s however Simon is not even mentioned.
A lot of the stations of the are inferred to be a part of the story.
In the Synoptic Gospels, Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross.
Unit 4
Lesson 3
Laws of nature don’t apply to Jesus for example, he is able to pass through objects , he bi-locates, he appears and disappears at will, and he levitates
The four proofs of the resurrection were , 1. There was proof he was dead , 2. The early accounts we have and a creed, 3. The empty tomb, 4. There were eyewitnesses
Jesus performs all his miracles by his own authority, because He is God the Son
Lesson 4
The gospel accounts agree that the Tomb is empty, Mary Magdalene, and the instructions to tell the apostles
The Resurrection represents the birth of the Christian faith
Women went to the tomb and were the first to have the Resurrection revealed to them
Lesson 5
Jesus predicts the martyrdom who will be one of millions to be killed for being part of the church
The apostles lost their faith but that faith was restored after encountering the resurrected Christ
Everyone can start over in their relation with Jesus and the reality of persecution and martyrdom

Lesson 2
The laity are the people in the church who are not ordained or religious
The smallest geographical structure of the church is called a parish
The bishops essentially play the role of the apostles after the Pentecost
Lesson 3
The rankings of the church’s offices are charity, chastity , poverty , and obedience
The origins of the church begins with Gods reaction to the first sin of humankind.
Jesus lays the foundation for the Kingdom of God by his public ministry and the Paschal Mystery.
Lesson 1
Ecclesiology is the branch of theology that considers the nature and structure of the church
The spiritual element of the body is the soul
The church is a community of people from all walks of life
Lesson 4
Two men in white garments tell the apostles that Jesus will return the same way he left
The apostles are filled with the Holy Spirit
The apostles ask Jesus if He is going to restore of the Kingdom of Israel, but Jesus didn’t come to dothat, He came to begin the Kingdom of God.
Lesson 5
For the first three hundred years of the church’s existence it was under direct persecution from the Jews, first, and the Roman’s for the remainder
Persecution of the church would continue in the future when there were direct conflicts between the state and the church, especially on the abuse of church authority and the church’s standard for morality.
