white hat hacker
White hat hackers or ethical hackers, are individuals that use their hacking skills on the side of good deeds like identifying security vulnerabilities in hardware, software or networks. They would not use their skills with malicious intent but would rather use it to say improve a system to keep out not so nice black hat hackers from getting into a system

black hat hacker
A Black Hat is a computer hacker who usually violates laws or typical ethical standards. The term originates from 1950s westerns, when bad guys typically wore black hats and good guys white hats. Black hat hackers aim to hack into any system for their own profit or out of malice.

grey hat hacker
Grey hat hackers are like the middle ground of the hackers, they have the ethics of the white hats but they do violate the laws like the black hat hackers but usually don't have malicious intent.
