Science mind map Derrick 89D
Acids
Properties of an acid
corrosive
conduct electricity
Taste Sour
Turns blue litmus paper to red
Some acid reacts strongly with metal
Ph lvl 1-6
Acid is a solution that has an excess of H+ ions
Example:
nitric acid
hydrochloric acid
sulfuric acid
citric acid
Base
Properties of Base
Feels slippery
Taste's bitter
Turns red litmus paper to blue
Conducts electricity
Does not react with metal
corrosive
Ph lvl 7
A base is a solution that has an excess of OH- ions
Atoms
Atoms contains proton, neutron, electron in the nucleus
proton's charge is positive
electron's charge is negative
proton's charge is neutral
atoms are neutral
atoms have the same number of proton with electron
atoms have various atomic models made by different people
example of those atomic models:
plum pudding model found in 1904
plum pudding model was found by J.J Thomson
planetary model found in 1913
Planetary model was found by Ernest Rutherford
quantum mechanical model found in 1926
quantum mechanical model was found by Erwin Schrödinger
nuclear model found in 1911
The nuclear model was found by Ernest Rutherford
Atoms have a nucleus in the center
there are proton and neutron in a nucleus and electrons surrounding it
Molecules
molecules is when 2 or more atoms combine/mix together
example:
C02 (carbon dioxide)
H20 (water)
02 (oxygen)
N2 (nitrogen)
NaCl (table salt)
Ion's
Ion is when an atom has an unstable charge
Ion is when the number of electron is different than the number of proton
salt
salt is made of sodium chloride or NaCl
salt has a Ph lvl of 7 so it is a base
