What is Snell's Law?
A formula describing the relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction
Thin lens equation
Where f= focal length, p is the object length, and q is the image length
f= positive when convex
f= negative when concave
q is positive when it is on the opposite side of the object and inverted
q is negative when it is on the same side as the object on the same side
Parallel and Series Circuits
Series Circuits- have multiple resistors and one direction of current flow
The equivalent resistance = Req= +R1+R2+R3+...
Parallel Circuits- have different directions where current can flow
The equivalent resistance = Req= 1/R1 + 1/R2 +1/R3
Where should an ammeter and voltmeter be placed?
An ammeter should never be placed parallel to the power source; perpendicular to the power source
An voltmeter should be placed in parallel with the circuit element being analyzed
converging and diverging lens
Diverging lens
The image is always virtual and is located between the object and the lens.
Converging lens
As long as the object is outside of the focal point the image is real and inverted. When the object is inside the focal point the image becomes virtual and upright
