ENDOCRINE GLANDS - Coggle Diagram
ENDOCRINE GLANDS
PITUITARY GLAND
-
ANTERIOR (FRONT)
adrenocorticotrophic hormone (acth) response to stress which stimulates adrenal gland to produce cortisol
luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) - stimulate ovaries in women to produce progesterone and oestrogen and in men stimulate testes to produce testosterone and sperm
POSTERIOR (BACK)
oxytocin, stimulates uterus in childbirth and is important for mother infant bonding. oxytocin important for maintenance and repair - declines with age
ADRENAL GLANDS
-
ADRENAL MEDULLA (inner)
adrenaline and noradrenaline -
fight or flight
adrenaline helps body respond to stress e.g. increased heart rate
noradrenaline increases blood pressure
ADRENAL CORTEX (outer)
cortisol - stress hormone
cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory functions
low levels = low blood pressure, poor immune system, inability to deal w stress
-
OVARIES
2 ovaries, reproductive system
