Nervous System
Antonio Lara
Per.2
Major functions of the nervous system
The nervous system transmits signals between the brain and the rest of the body and including internal organs
Major divisions and subdivisions of the nervous system
Central Nervous System
The brain and the Spinal cord
Peripheral Nervous System
The nerves that branch off from the spinal cord extend all parts of the parts of the body.
Tissues
The Tissue is a group of cells that have similar structure and that function tougher as a unit
Functions
Neuroglia
Are large class of neural cells of ectodermal and mesodermal organs
Neurons
Considered to be the basis of the nervous tissue
Classification of neurons
Sensory
Interneurons
Motor
Connective Tissue Coverings
The Connective tissue sheath covering each fasciculus is known as perimysium and the innermost sheath surrounding indivdual muscle fiber is know as endomysium
Major parts and functions of the brain
Precentral gyrus
Responsible for control of voluntary movement
Postcentral Gyrus
Responsible for propriception
Frontal Lobe
Important for voluntary movement, expressive and for managing higher level executive functions
Parietal Lobe
Responsible for taste, hearing, sight, touch and smell.
Spinal cord
Responsible for sending info from your brain to your body.
Occipital Lobe
Responsible for colour, form and motion
Temporal Lobe
Responsible for your memory.
Cerebellum
Responsible for controlling balance while walking, standing.
Major parts and functions of the spinal cord
Thoracic
Protect your heart and lungs
Lumbar
Support most of your body
Cervical
It support the weight of your head and protect your spinal cord
Nerve Impulse
It's a electrical charge that travels along the membrane of the neuron
Cranial nerves
A set of 12 paired nerves in the back of your brain. And it helps you smell, feel sensations, taste and hear.
Spinal nerves
Are mixed nerves that interact directly with spinal cord to modulate and sensory information from the body periphery
Neurotransmitters
it carry chemical signals from one neuron to the other
Reflex arc
Control center
Spinal coed on the center that controls reflex action
Motor neuron
Sensory neuron
Are cells that are activated by sensory input from the environment
Muscle
Is tissue
Sensor
Converts the physical action to be measured into an electrical equivalent
Disorders/Diseases
Alzheimer's Disease
Spinal Cord Injury
Autism
Meningitis
Cerebrovascular Accident
Multiple Sclerosis
