Samba
In Brazil's musical history, Samba plays an enormous part. Samba bands, commonly called Bateria, consist of a variety of drums and small percussion instruments. The instruments are designed to be light so that they can be played at Brazialian carnivals for hours on end.
Samba is music to dance to. It originated in Rio de Janiero in 1930 and is a mixture of Portuguese, Spanish, African and Cuban cultures.
