Atman - a soul believed to me trapped
Reincarnation - you are reborn when you die
samsara - cycle of life
karma - actions lead to a better rebirth
dharma - duties to get good karma
moksha - escape from samsara
Christian Terms
Judgement Day - God decides who goes to heaven or hell
Heaven - a reward for good people
Hell - a punishment for bad people
salvation by works - good actions
salvation by faith - believing in God and Jesus
Predestination - it is already decided whether we will go to heaven or hell before we are born
Arguments for a life after death
Poltergeists - things moving and sightings of ghosts
Medium say they can communicate with the dead
People have memories of past lives
Arguments against there being a life after death
Ghosts are in peoples imagination
Buildings makes natural noises - not supernatural
Mediums could be lying
memories of a past life could be influenced by what people see in the media
Similarities between Christianity and Hinduism
Every person has soul/spirit that lives on after death
There is a sense of reward and punishment based on what you do in life
The ultimate goal in life is to achieve oneness with God
