        Children with special needs who have developmental expressive language disorder (DELD) also often have difficulty expressing their thoughts and emotions. Because of this, they may need specialized care. Fortunately, they can learn about and develop thought processes and expression. Counseling can help children with DELD to learn how to express themselves better (Ward, 2022).
        
        Parents
        
        Parents of children with special needs play an important role in helping the disability community succeed in school and beyond. Parent training programs provide parents with research-backed strategies to better understand their child’s disability and how to help them succeed academically (Ward, 2022).
        
        Gifted
        
        Special students with special needs also include those with an advanced intellect. The talented and special students with special needs often possess leadership, creativity, communication skills, and intelligence well beyond what’s expected of their age. They often feel underwhelmed by the lack of challenge in their schools (Ward, 2022).
        
        Emotional and Behavior Disorders
        
        A student with emotional or behavior disorders could benefit from counseling services that will help the student, parents and staff assist in the student's learning. The professional can help understand what additional parameters that can be be established to help the student overcome some of the disabilities that enables them to learn.
- - - - The therapist model correct sounds and syllables in words and sentences for a child such as the "r" sound
        
        The therapist shows how to move the tongue to make specific sounds during play activities.
        
        For example:
        Vocalic R Minimal Pairs Sorting Activity by Kiwi Speech- can help students produce one or two vocalic R types but the rest all sound the same.
    - - Using pictures, books, objects, or ongoing events to stimulate language development.
        
        Model correct vocabulary and grammar, and use repetition exercises to build language skills.
        
        For example:
        -I Spy... help to speak in turn, sentence fluency.
        -Bury Objects or Picture Cards. It would help pronunciation, sentence fluency.
    - - The therapist uses oral exercises such as facial massage, and tongue, lip, and jaw exercises that help strengthen the muscles of the mouth for eating, drinking, and swallowing.
        
        The specialist introduces different food textures and temperatures.
        
        Example activities in the classroom:
        -Words game help students expand vocabulary.
        -Rhymes game: repetitive chanting, reading, writing, or hearing rhymes promote good listening skills and memory retention, aside from developing speech.
