The fall of the Provisional Government was entirely due to Its own failings :
Bolsheviks
Reason For
Planned a Revolution against them, turning the support they had against them
-
-
During the Kornilov Coup, they produced Propaganda that made the Provisional government look weak
On October 9th, Trotsky proposed that they create a "mlitary revolutionary centre" to prevent the civil Kornilovites from uprising. This increased fear for government ministers
-
The War
October 5th, Kerensky planned for more military service for the front line in fear of a Bolshevik uprising but this failed making people think he was abandoning Russia to the Germans
-
Relied Heavily on France for loans meaning they felt like they couldn't pull out of the war, even though it was unpopular
-
July Days
Brought force in to rush the demonstrators out and successfully destroyed the Bolsheviks showing power and authority but only because of the support from the Mensheviks and SR's
Too frightened to act against industrialists so didn't put in price controls, causing the July days.
Lost support of most workers and sailors at the Kronstadt navel base who organised their own demonstrators against the Provisional Government which spread to the Petrograd
