WOMEN AFTER THE WAR
After doing "the mens jobs" in WW2 will the men were fighting, once the war ended most women went back to there traditional jobs as housewives
Women who were able to get jobs were employed in traditionally female roles E.G. nursing, teaching & secretarial roles.

POP CULTURE
TEENAGERS AND THE ROCK AND ROLL GENERATION- Teenager had more money to spend on leisure time so they didn't have to get jobs at an early age to support there families. This led to many go on and finishing high school and some even going to college. Teenagers were seen as independent,rebellious and aggressive!
ROCK & ROLL- This music upset many parents as they thought it was a bad influence as often these songs referenced sexual langage, drug use & gangs.
TV- In 1948 Tv programmes had regular adverts to encourage more spending. News channels were developing and a 1956 performance by Elvis Presley was watched by 82% of the US.
