Definition
Dyslipidemia is the imbalance of lipids, either increases or decreases levels such as cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, (LDL-C), triglycerides, and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in plasma.

Pathophysiology
Patofisiologi terjadinya dislipidemia berkaitan dengan metabolisme lipid di dalam tubuh. Secara umum, lemak di dalam darah di metabolisme di hati. Asupan lemak berlebih menyebabkan terjadinya gangguan proses metabolisme kolesterol yang berujung pada penumpukan kolesterol di hati. Akibatnya, kolesterol tidak dapat diangkut seluruhnya oleh lipoprotein menuju ke hati dari aliran darah di seluruh tubuh.
