The governer represented the king.
controlled military and made sure that the colony was defended.
The governer also dealt with external relations like the fur trade and making sure their relations were good.
The Bishop of Quebec
The Bishop and the church both played roles by offering spiritial and moral guidance
The Bishop and the church provided schools for New France and the Colony along with many other helpful things to further the growth of the colony
Represented the catholic church which played an important role in the colony and new France.
Farmers
Habitants
Barely had anything to themselves
They were noble men from noble families but, women who were commoners could also become habitants
Farmers who lived on seigneurs which are large plots of land
Seiguners
Large plots of land that farmers lived on and were grants from the king of France
Had to recruit people/habitants to farm the land and take care of it
Had to build houses, flour mills, and churches for the habitants to rent out
Some habitants neglected their lands

Were very helpful in growing New France as they gave them things that were critical to the expansion of the colony

Fur traders
Merchants
You could find merchants in many settlements from blacksmiths to shoemakers
Many merchants made their money and yearly income through the fur trade
The merchants bought fur from Coureur de Bois and a few other colonists who traded furs for extra money and income they then shipped those furs to France where they sold them in hopes of getting some return

Coureur de Bois
This type of fur trading was illegal in New France yet it didn't stop them from selling their fur to anyone and everyone, even the British
At first, this type of independant trading was popular and even encouraged but the New France government made it illegal and outlawed to do.
Coureur de Bois meant "Runner of the woods" this is based off of how some of the people/men in the trade sold their fur; by running into the forest to trade with the First Nations People.
Voyager
Voyager means traveller
They're men from France who travelled between Montreal, the great lakes then eventually went further west.
