Definitions
Gerund:
is a verb in its “ing” form that functions as a noun and names an activity rather than a person or thing.
To form infinitives:
To+ base form of the verb
Example: To play
To form negative infinitives:
Example: not to write
Infinitives:
are the “to form” of verbs. The infinitive form of "learn" is "to learn."
To learn is important
To form gerunds:
The base form of the verb + ing
Example: watching
To form negative gerunds:
Example: Not speaking
I enjoy reading
Her favorite hobby is reading.
He wants to learn.

Differences between gerunds and infinitives
Gerunds:
often follow verbs that indicate that an action happening or has happened.
Infinitives:
often follow verbs that indicate that an action will or could happen.
Example:
We enjoy going to concerts.
Example:
We hope to go to the concert.
