When the King is appointed with holy oils he took the title of King he is then considered to have divine authority
This meant that he couldn't be questioned

This was the magna carta that gave his subjects some control over the king

A king needed to be seen to reinforce his authority
Formal occasions and rituals were arranged for this, for example the coronation
