RECOMMENDATION
Without giving away too much of the story, The Great Gatsby is mostly about the American Dream. All of the necessary components are present. a mystery self-made millionaire trying to reunite with his ex-girlfriend. Before the Great Depression brought everything crashing back down, the glitz and luxury of 1920s New York City. Fitzgerald makes excellent use of descriptive language and imagery to bring the words and characters to life, resulting in one of the best stories ever written.
