Chauffeurs Approach
• Build an engine strong enough to drive an airplane, slap it on an airframe strong enough to
withstand the forces and to generate the lift, and presumably you could get into the air.
Airman Approach
• Need to get up in the air, fly around in gliders, and obtain the "feel" of an airplane before an
engine was used for powered flight
