USE: scientific truths, obvoius consequences :IF means WHEN / WHENEVER
FORM: present simple in BOTH sentences
EX: If you heat water up to 100°C, it boils /
If students get high evaluations, teachers are very happy
3. SECOND
USE: POSSIBILITY IN THE PRESENT OR IN THE FUTURE
If I could help you, I'd do it
FORM: If + past simple + would / could / should / might + base form (= present conditional)
5. MIXED
TYPE A
EX : if we hadn't stopped i9n that village, we would be there by now
FORM : If + past perfect + present conditional
USE: The present situation would be different if a specific event would have taken place in the past
TYPE B
EX: If you were more diplomatic, you wouldn't have offended Ingrid
FORM: If + past simple + past conditional
If the present (or general) situation was different. the past situation wouls have been different as well

USE: REALITY
EX; If it rains, I'll stay at home
FORM: If + present simple + will / going to + base form
