Types of errors
Local
While still error, do not affect the meaning of the text
Involve noun n verb inflections, n the use of articles ( a, an, the) , prepositions (at, in, of, on, after, under) , auxiliaries (am, does, might)
“If I heard from him i will let you know” (heard - hear)
Global
Interfere with the intended reader’s understanding of the text
Involve wrong word order in sentence
“ I like take taxi but my friend said so not that we should be late for school.”
Phonological
When a child says one sound instead of another
the lack of distinction between the phoneme /p/ and the phon- eme /b/ among Arab ESL learners;
we hear them saying pird and brison, for example, instead of bird and prison.
Morphological
Caused by some factors; inconsistensy in english , misapplication of rules, interference , overgeneralisation
Learners form diff words by using diff morphemes. If we put Incorrect morphemes together , get an incorrect word ; morphological error.

Lexical
Are categorised under this type of errror when...
When a lexical item used in a sentence does’nt suit with another part of the sentence, these items sound inappropiate
involves inappropriate direct translation from the learner's native language or the use of wrong lexical items in the second language.
“ This is the home that my father built, and The clock is now ten.”
Lexical errors refer to mistakes at world level (Hernández, 2011)
Syntatic
errors in word order, subject-verb agreement, and the use of the resumptive pronoun in English relative clauses
Mistake in using a language that involves organising words and phrases that do not make sense.
Syntax = tells u how a sentence is structured and worded, which can easily be misconstrued
common syntax errors
Using sentence fragments instead of complete sentences
can be very confusing and are often misinterpreted
Incorrect: There are only a few things left to do. The sanding and painting.
Correct: There are only a few things left to do: The sanding and painting.
Squinting modifiers
word used to describe something that is misplaced in the sentence. it could either modify the phrase that precedes it or the phrase that comes after it, which can be confusing.
Incorrect: “Running around quickly entertained her.”
Correct: “When she ran around quickly, she was entertained.”
Inappropriate comma usage
Misplaced punctuation can instantly change the meaning of phrases and the way a sentence reads aloud
Incorrect: “She enjoys cooking her family and her dog.”
Correct: “She enjoys cooking, her family, and her dog.”
