Interpersonal Attraction - Coggle Diagram
Interpersonal Attraction
Attraction:
Physical attractiveness
Females: Large eyes, small nose, prominent cheekbones, small chin, narrow cheeks, high eyebrows, large pupils
-
Males: Large eyes, prominent cheekbones, big chin
Evolutionary: We find adults with baby faces (large eyes)more attractive as it is adaptive for humans to like a baby's appearance as we would be more motivated to care for them
Prominent cheekbones are associated with sexually mature adults
Symmetrical faces are an indicator of good health and reproductive fitness
Familiarity: We prefer faces that resemble our own faces
-
-
Propinquity effect: The more we see and interact with people, the more likely they are to become our friends
Mere exposure effect: The more exposure people have to a stimulus, the more positively it is evaluated. You don't need to interact with the stimulus. The fact that you see it makes you like it more
-
Reciprocity: We like others who like us in return. We know that the time we spend with that person is likely to lead to a long-lasting, high-quality relationship compared to someone who doesn't like you
