Andy's first introduction into the toxic culture of the business is when Emily states "Miranda sacked the last 2 girls after only a few weeks. We need to find someone who can survive here, do you understand?" 03:50

Andy does not read Runway, and has not heard of miranda. Her options are limited, which is why she has applied for the position 08:20
Andy states "I am smart, I learn ver fast and I will work very hard" 09:10
Emily states "most importantly, I get to go to fashion week with Miranda in the fall" 13:35
Miranda refuses to call Andy by her name and refers to her as Emily. She laughs when Andy states her name is Andy. 15:30
She is afraid of being in trouble. As shown when she puts on the designer shoes when Miranda mocks the ones she is wearing on her first day. 16:00
Toxic behaviour - Miranda does not greet Andy and simply throws the coat on the desk without greeting her. 18:00
Andy states "she is not happy unless unless the people around her are panicked, nauseous or suicidal" 23:30
Andy states: "I just have to stick it out for one year and then I can do what I came to New York to do" 24:00
Andy states that working for Miranda will open a lot of doors. For example, Emily is going to go to Paris and meets lots of editors and writers. In a year, that could be her if she sticks with it. Ultimately she was right, Miranda's reference got her the dream job in the end of the movie. 27:00
The first significant goal failure that Andy experiences are when she fails to get Miranda home from Miami during a hurricane to see her daughter's recital. She is emotional when she hears she has disappointed her boss. She has two options in front of her: leave the job or reevaluate her goals. She realises she could be putting in more effort, and with the help of Nigel, she reevaluates her goals and adheres to the dress code of the fashion industry. Did Miranda know that this would be the wakeup call she needed? 30:00
The perks of the job are starting to be clear, when Andy showers her friends with unwanted gifts that Miranda did not want. 37:00
The first real goal achievement comes after Andy proactively pre-organised an outfit for Miranda to wear to dinner with her husband; the reward is respect; Miranda finally calls by her 'Andrea'. In addition to this, she is given the responsibility to deliver "the book" to Miranda's home. 43:00
The second goal failure comes when Andy (misguided by Miranda's daughters) takes "the book" into a private area of the house. She then focuses on a new goal, to get the unpublished Harry Potter book. She is about to give up and considers quitting before Miranda can fire her first. 45:00

Although Andy said she would quit, she tells her boyfriend that she does not want to throw away all the hard work and effort. Her expectancy is still high. 52:00
Andy states that "her personal life is hanging by a thread" Nigel replies "that is what happens when you start doing well at your job". You can see in Andy's expression that she is contemplating if it is worth it (valance) 54:00
Another goal achievement - Andy remembers Ambassador Franklin and partner Rebecca's name at the gala event. Later in the movie, we find out that the reward for her effort is that Andy will go to Paris instead of Emily. 1:01
Andy is given an offer to meet the editor of New York magazine at a Gala event. She turns it down to spend time with her boyfriend Nate. 1:02 (Valance)
After being invited to Paris, Andy is emotional as she realises this will impact her relationship with Emily. She begins to contemplait if the cut-throat industry is all that she had dreamt. (Valance / Instrumentality)
