The Beginning of the Story
:
A detective named Hercules Poirot returns from a case, receives a correspondence and has to travel to London.
He stays a few days at THE TOKATLIAN HOTEL, where he meets Monsieur Bouc, director of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits, and an old friend of Poirot's.
Together they go up to The Orient
Express across Europe.
The next day, in the train restaurant, and together with his friend Bouc, they analysed the people on the train, each one full of mysteries.
The day passed, and one morning, the detective could hear a heavy thud, but it was just a false alarm and unknown noise.
The next morning, the Detective Poirot was requested by Monsieur Bouc to speak with him for a few minutes.
The detective Poirot was asked to take over the case, to try to solve it.

The killer was still between each of them
One person was found dead inside the train, it was the American, Ratchet...
The characters that they could see
were:
.
Princess Natalia Dragomiroff: An old, stately and unattractive Russian lady.
Mrs. Hubberd: An American chatterbox that is sure to have seen the murderer
Colonel Arbuthnot: A British Army officer returning from India
Mary Hermione Debenham: A tall, dark-haired young British woman who was a governess in Baghdad.
Ratchet: An American, seemingly uninteresting man with a dark secret.
Edward Henry Masterman: The valet from Ratchet, he is inexpressive and polite, he is white and is 39 years old.
More evidences
Poirot, already interrogating Mrs. Hubbard, had the evidence button and found the handkerchief. He decided to question the Swedish girl.
The Swedish girl, Greta Olhsson, is a trained nurse.
She probably was the last person that saw the murdered when sheopened his door by mistake.
She did not have any idea about the scarlet silk kimono and the
Armstrong kidnapping case.
After the common question, Poirot made a chronological table of
events that showed to M. Bouc.
M. Bouc inferred that the crime was committed at 1.15. and
guessed that the Italian fellow was the murder.
The Italian man comes from Chicago, America.
An Italian’s weapon is the knife.
Cassetti is an Italian name.
Ratchett did on him the double-cross.
For Poirot, it couldn't be that simple. M. Bouc didn't have in mind what the valet said.
M. Bouc interrogates The Wagon Lit conductor because of the button.
Even though the button was not of him. M. Bouc accused him of the crime.
His colleagues confirmed his version, he was talking with them
and that was the reason why he did not answer on time the bell.
Both of the other conductors alsodeclared that they had not lost a button.
After inferring and analyzing again the murder plan, the three
conductors could depart.
Poirot and M. Boun still had to see
eight passengers.eight passengers.

Evidences
PASSENGERS’ EVIDENCE
According to the evidence
The time of the crime is unknown.
Mr. Ratchett was stabbed in 12 places.
There is no evidence to prove that a person with these characteristics exists: small, dark, had a little mustache, and a weak voice like a woman's.
They can not prove that Mr. Hardman is a detective. His false passport makes him suspicious.
The only person who fits the description of "small dark man" is the valet.
The murderer may be a woman because of the voice.
Two people committed the crime, one is the conductor, and the other one is the woman in the scarlet kimono.
Mrs. Hubbard came into the room and said that she found a bloody knife in her bag, and then fainted.
THE WEAPON
It was an oriental dagger. The weapon was cheap and looked like what you can buy in an eastern bazaar.
Poirot said that it is better not to waste time looking for fingerprints because certainly before was cleaned.
They recreate the scene and conclude that she could not see the door's bolt. Also, Poirot pointed out that Mrs. Ohlsson must have made a mistake when she thought the door was closed.
Passenger's Luggage
When they searched the Colonel's luggage, they found pipe cleaners that match the one that they found on the floor in the crime scene.
At the moment of searching the count and countess luggage, they were able to find a quite peculiar issue with their bag, the suitcase was damp.
Poirot asked why Mary was stressed when there was a delay on the Syrian train but she doesn't seem anxious now.
Poirot found in his lagguge the Scarlet Kimono used on the Murder.
