Ruth was also mentioned in the Geneology, she was a foreigner, a refugee who married an Israelite
Matthew mentions this women to show that the House of Israel is not without its black sheep
This is also done to show that Jesus can make straight using crooked lines
Jesus ends the Geneology
Lesson 2
purpose of incarnation is to reconcile us with god through forgiveness of sins
he does this in order to let us know how much he loves us, to be model of holiness, to make us partakers of the divine nature, and to destroy the devil.
Human love is limited, while Gods is unconditional, as shown through Jesus
St. Athanatious says, “For the Son of God became man so that we might become God.” “The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods.” .
Lesson 4

Joseph named Custos by St. JP II, which means caretaker of the Christ
Matthew pictures Jesus as Messiah who would save everyone from Romans
Luke pictures Jesus as a teacher, prophet, healer and messenger, in other words, fully man and God
John Pictures Jesus as the divine son of God
Matthew and Luke focus on human condition of incarnation
John focuses on the divine aspect of the incarnation

Christ- “Anointed one”
Son of God- used more in the Old Testament, and stresses unique relationship between father and son
Lord- Greek replacement for YHWY
Lesson 5
Each of the synoptic gospels begin Christ’s ministry with genealogy.
In all three Jesus is baptized in the Jordan by John and the Holy Spirit comes upon Jesus with an affirming message.
In Matthew there is a dialogue between Eli and Mary.
In Matthew, the message seems to be for everyone, but in Mark and Luke, the message seems to be for Jesus alone.
The baptism of Jesus is one of the mysteries of the rosary
Miracles are associated with the rosary
October is the month of the rosary.

Unit 3
Lesson 2
In the story of Job we learn that sometimes completely Innocent people end up suffering
Jesus calls out two groups which are normally aligned to one another which are the Scribes and the Pharisees
Jesus accuses them of being hypocrites, a brood of vipers, and blind guides
The scribes were Jewish legal officials who had the authority to draw up contracts in agreement with the Mosaic Law.
The Pharisees did not have the same legal authority but had a similar philosophy in regards to the Law of Moses
The Zealots were Jews who would do anything to overthrow Roman occupation
Jesus was a very public figure who did not push people to observe Jewish rituals of purification
Jesus himself actually violated the laws when He allowed Himself to be surrounded by and even touched by public sinners, the sick, and the dead
The Sadducees did not like Jesus as he believed that he would rise from the dead
They also thought that the large crowds he attracted could cause the Romans to interpret the Jews raising a rebellion
The Zealots did not like Jesus as he speaks of loving your enemy, etc.
The Zealots have no love in their heart
The Sadducees were the ones who would end up putting the events in motion which would lead to Jesus’ execution
Lesson 3

◦ These people were commoners
• All four gospels write about entry into Jerusalem
Lesson 4
Jesus cleanses the temple as a tradition of Pentecost, and clears the merchants from the den of thieves they’ve created
Jesus is mad for three reasons
the buying, selling and cheating occurring writhing the temple
the need to purchase animals for sacralicé
and the immoral exchanged money that cheated people of their money and used Roman currency
all resulted with the merchants using up these ways to get more money (selfish)
John 2 talks about how Jesus felt
said there should be no buying and selling
Jesus’ evidence of authority to cleanse the temple is challenged
he speaks of destroying the temple
then rebuilding it in 3 days
he was speaking about his own body
Lesson 5

Jesus however, will never die again, because the laws of nature no longer apply to Him as a person
proofs of resurrection- Jesus died, early accounts of resurrection, tomb was empty, and eye witnesses to It
lesson 4
they disagree on the specific women and who the women encounter
They agree Mary M was there, the tomb was empty, and there were instructions to tell the apostles, which leaves us to these conclusiosns
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all give different perspectives of the empty tomb, but they all agree women go to the tomb, someone is in the tomb, and the stone was rolled
