- - - - What is a push factors? something that makes people want to leave a place or escape from a particular situation
      - NZ push factor: Other factors such as poverty and violence, lack of jobs and opportunities, pollution and natural disasters
      - What is a pull factor? something that attracts people to a place or an activity
      - NZ pull factor: Factors such as higher wages, better opportunities, safety and stability, freedom, better quality of life and family reunification.
  - - - How did they affect Māori and the land
      - Lots of British were looking for the chance to own land this was a major Pull factor. Also looking for land to settle on, therefore construction effected the land. They introduced a lot of species having a ripple effect on the ecosystem
      - What new things did they introduce
      - The British invented so many new things such as:
      - Left side of the road driving, Legal system sports such as; soccer & rugby, Anglican Church, Schools, Gold Mining
      - What new animals did they introduce
      - Deer, Rabbits, Species of birds, Weasels, Ferrets, Stoats, Hedgehogs
      - These animals are pests in NZ
- - - - Tried to bring people & ideas together – encouraged intermarriage between Greeks and other races.
      - Egypt & Middle East (including Palestine) now ruled by Greek rulers (his generals).
      - Appointed officials from various cultures to help rule.
      - Built dozens of new cities & encouraged Greek settlers to move into them, e.g. great city of Alexandria in Egypt dominated trade and culture for centuries.
      - Traders also brought back goods & new ideas from the East, affecting philosophy, literature and science.
  - - - Zeus: Zeus, the great presiding deity of the universe, the ruler of heaven and earth, was regarded by the Greeks, first, secondly, as the personification of the laws of nature; thirdly, as lord of state-life; and fourthly, as the father of gods and men.
      - Nike: With Athena carrying personified victory, Athena herself becomes Athena of Victory. Nike was depicted as wingless to denote that she would not fly away and leave Athens vulnerable to defeat; Athens and Athena would always hold victory as their own.
      - Poseidon: The god Poseidon, a brother of Zeus, not only looked after the seas; he was also in charge of earthquakes and horses. Quarrelsome, surly, petulant and greedy were some of the adjectives used to describe him and he was reputed to hold a grudge for a long time.
      - Hephaistos: The fire associated with Hephaestus was the beneficial element that permitted men to work metal and to build civilizations. Moreover, he was the patron god of artisans, craftsmen, and blacksmiths. Any activity requiring skills in crafts was highly associated with him.
      - Athene: In ancient Greek religion, Athena was a goddess of war, handicraft, and practical reason. Essentially urban and civilized, Athena was probably a pre-Hellenic goddess later taken over by the Greeks.
