- - - - Place: Areas of the Earth's surface that are identified and given a meaning by people living within it. For example, those who are studying Perth would use place to understand why people settled, how the city is built and the change overtime.
        
        Interconnection: The concept of interconnection s the complex links between the natural and human processes that form the Earth. For example, the Earth's temperature affects oceans and damages coral reefs. Land and their droughts. Polar Ice caps melting can increase sea levels.
        
        Changes: Change is caused by natural processes and by human processes that can occur very rapidly and are easy to see and some that can take up to a million years and undetectable to us. For example, Global warming.
        
        Environment: Where living organisms inhabit e.g., natural environments and altered environments. For example, Natural is deserts, grasslands, mountains, corals, forests, etc. Whilst altered is large cities, towns, suburbs, and farmland.
        
        Sustainability: The ongoing capacity of Earth to maintain all life. There are two types, non-renewable resources and renewable. For example, non-renewable is coal, oil, natural, gases. While the renewable is wind, forests and sunlight.
        
        scale: The things that take place on many different spatial levels. For example, there are four types. The first one is local, daily visitors to a neighbourhood skatepark and if their facilities meet their need. The second is nation, yearly tourists visiting national parks in Australia, the impact they have and how it is managed. The third is international, animal pouching in different parks and wild game reserves in different countries across Africa. Finally, global, use of all marine parks around the world and how well they protect their endangered species.
  - - - Sinks (regulating services): are those processes in the natural environment that absorb our waste. For example, micro-organisms in oceans break down oil spills.
        
        Services (supporting services): are things that are done for us by the natural environment that don't produce consumable resources. For example, wetlands filter water and show floodwaters.
        
        Spirituality (cultural services): refers to the personal relationships that human beings have with the environment. For example, some, this is a deep connection with the land formed over many generations. For, others, it is the experience of spending time in the natural environment and the sense of wellbeing that this brings such as people who do the activities like surfing and bushwalking tend to feel a deep connection with the environment.
  - - - Choropleth: Is a type of map that uses colours or patterns to relate data about a specific statistic to pre-define regions.
  - - - Pollution: - Human: oil spill, industrial chemicals, mining, sewage and land run-off.
        
        Physical: acid rain, atmospheric pollution.
        
        Climate change: - Human: global emissions of greenhouse gases = CO2 from burning of fossil fuels, agriculture and land clearing.
