Voting
-
People who cannot vote in the Uk include: * Member of the house of lords, An EU citizen in the Uk, A convicted prisoner.
First Past the Post.
An electoral system where the person who votes gets to vote once in their constituency- The candidate with the most votes wins.
-
Advantages: The results are clearer quicker so the winning party can take over the government when the election is over.
Extremist parties are unlikely to be elected- They won't be able to win enough votes.
Disadvantages: Smaller parties usually win less seats- They don't have enough support in each constituency. The number of votes a party gets does not reflect the number of seats a party won- A party could win the election but with a minority of seats. People would rather vote so they can keep a party out instead of the party they believe in.
