AGE AT ONSET OF ILLNESS: 86% report onset of illness by the age of 20:43% report onset between ages of 16-20: 33% report onset between ages of 11-15:10% report onset at 10 years or younger

Anorexia mainly occurs in females but the % in males has increased

10 percent of cases detected are in males.

Individuals who have previously shown weight concerns and a preoccupation with weight, have a history of dieting, and display a negative body image all show risk factors for developing eating disorders
