Bavelier et al (2011)
This is a study that was conducted to see the connection between action video games and decision making.
They separated men into two groups. One group played action video games. The second group was asked to play a simulation game in which they had to make decisions about a character's life.
After playing the games for several hours, they were asked to simple test. They found that people who did the action video could do the task faster and with fewer errors.
This study shows that video games improve our cognitive learning but this is also just for video games and not for social media and other technology.
Kühn et al (2013)
This study's aim was to find effects of prolonged video game playing on the brains of young adults.
Participants played super mario every day for two months. MRI scans were made on the participants both before and after the two-month period of game playing.
the scans showed an increase of the volume of grey matter in the prefrontal cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum in the gaming group than in the controls group.
This study shows how video games and technology can improve our cognitive learning. The control group of this study could have been affected and bias.

Ahern et al (2002)
this aims study was to see the effect of seeing graphic content on television impacted PTSD
This was done with a survey where there were questions about exposure to media and PTSD.
They found that disaster-related television content was related with PTSD. Participants who had seen many times “people falling or jumping from the towers of the World Trade Center” had a higher prevalence of PTSD than those who did not.
This study shows that people can get more exposed to graphic content with technology. there may be bias when it comes to the survey since the participants knew what they study was aiming for and therefore just answered the questions accordingly.
Storm et al (2016)
This study's purpose was to see if google was used successfully to find information made it more likely that participants would use Google in the future rather than recalling information from their memory store.
participants were randomly split into 3 groups, Internet, memory or baseline. they were asked to answer 8 difficult common knowledge questions using their source of knowledge. then, they were asked to answer 8 easy question really fast with the option to consult google.
the results show that using google to find information makes us more likely to use it, making us not use our memory that often, in future information recall tasks.
in this study we can see that we very much rely on the internet instead of our brains to find information making it harder to complete smaller tasks without the internet.
