Desert landscapes
Description
A desert is a area of land that gets no more than 250 millimetres of rain per year. They cover 1/3 of the earth's surface and there are two types of deserts: cold and hot deserts.

Hot deserts are located along the north and south of the equator and are shaped by the heat and wind.

They are formed by the movement of the tectonic plates under the surface and they push against each other and force the land upwards.

Mountains, hills, valleys
Mountains are steep, with sloping sides and sharp rounded edges, and a high point.
